What is... Biometrics?
Biometrics is a technology that verifies a computer user's identity by measuring a unique-to-the-individual biological trait. Biometric technologies include dynamic signature verification, retinal/iris scanning, DNA identification, face-shape recognition, voice recognition and fingerprint identification. Biometrics creates trust by establishing a context of confident privacy and undeniable personal responsibility. Dynamic signature verification technology uses the behavioral biometrics of a hand written signature to confirm the identity of a computer user. Cyber-SIGN is a licensed technology for integration into a client/server application. Software for client/server communication is provided, and at each client site a digitizing tablet is required. The user provides sample enrollment signatures at start-up, creating a biometric template that is stored in a commercially available database and on a secured Cyber-SIGN server. During use, to confirm the user's identity, the encrypted data from a subsequently written signature is compared, at the server, with the secured template.

History
